Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, age 81, underwent heart - TopicsExpress

Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, age 81, underwent heart surgery this morning after experiencing discomfort during exercise. She had a stent placed in her right coronary artery, and is expected to be discharged within a couple of days. Appointed by Bill Clinton in 1993, Ginsburg is a brilliant and passionate voice for decency and common sense. She is also one of four bulwarks against the five Republican appointees responsible for such breathtakingly regressive decisions as “Citizens United vs. FEC” (corporations are people under the First Amendment), “McCutcheon vs. FEC” (the rich shouldn’t be constrained from contributing to any number of candidates), “Shelby County vs. Holder” (states with long histories of voter repression no longer need supervision under the Voting Rights Act), and Bush vs. Gore (Bush should be president because, well, just because). Pray for her long health. Pray that the next president is a Democrat who will appoint others like Ginsberg. While you’re at it, you might ask the cosmos that the next vacancy on the Court be one of the five Republican appointees. Just saying.
