Surely it makes sense to scrap the term-time holiday ban? Yes education is vital for children, but not being able to holiday during term time is no preparation for the world of work. In the working world you have a holiday, and upon your return you have to catch up on work. Preparing children for the realities of the working world whilst allowing parents with lower incomes the ability to holiday at cheaper times in the year is surely a good thing. My parents took me to Canada for a month during school term when I was 9 and I learnt more about history, travel, culture and the environment than anything I remember in the classroom!
