Surely with various reports of a minority of scam charities and people of lets says lesser morals and standards of ethics haveing been eventually exposed over time surley the sooner there are accepted set practical standards for those responsible for running a small equine charity the better? some possible standards that come to mind could possibly be : 1) Banning trustees & close relatives from owning their own equines and running/keeping them with the charities equines and/ or using charities feed stocks inappropriately to care for their own! 2)Banning Trustees and or their families from specifically helping themselves to any equines they fancy that go thro the charities hands for themselves. 3) using any donated feeds or monies for their own equines alongside their charities. 4)all equines rescued to be recorded and listed with the local authorities or a new governing body for full accountability and photographs and details of how the equine was acquired and details of when rehomed etc officially recorded for scrutiny officially. 5)Any equines rescued reported to have suffered injury or death unacceptable distress through neglect while in the care of any equine charity and also when transported to be investigated independantly by a governing body with statutory powers to enforce wiith severe punishments and made public. 6)Any trustees/volunteers with a criminal record to be banned for life from being involved in working/running any charity large or small and from asking for monies to be donated to them. 7)Any trustee found threatening or inciting hatred or violence against another charities trustees or volunteers to be banned for life and severely punished. 8)Regular audit checks to ensure all funds/donations are used correctly and fully accountable 9)Any approved registered charity covering up abuse or neglect by another charity or associate organisation or individuals they use to help them be held fully accountable. 10) Any person running a equine welfare charity awarded special honours and found to be deliberately concealing any neglect or suffering by a 3rd party and still endorsing them publicly to be seriously considered to have their honours revoked and publicly named and shamed as in the public interest. No offence intended or implied to all the good honest legitimate small charities/organisations who work tirelessly and honestly 24/7 x 52 doing such excellent charitable works often with little credit or appreciation.
