Surfix is a young and enthusiastic company developing and providing chemical surface modification, based on innovative nanocoatings, for the micro- and nanotechnology market. With our proprietary surface modification technology, the surface properties of a large variety of materials can easily be controlled at the molecular scale, enhancing performance, quality and lifetime of our customers devices. We have a vacancy for a position as R&D Engineer. We are looking for a bachelor or master in the field of chemistry/nanotechnology to strengthen our team. As R&D Engineer you will be part of our surface modification team and will be working in a well equipped chemistry lab. You will be actively involved in multidisciplinary customer projects and will be responsible for quality control through several surface characterization techniques. Basic requirements: A BSc or MSc degree in chemistry/nanotechnology with a few years of additional practical experience in surface chemistry and surface modification. Experience with advanced surface characterisation techniques is an advantage A strong technical understanding of surface chemistry and characterization methodologies Good analytic skills and curiosity driven and ‘hands-on’ mentality Good communication and writing skills, general computer skills (Windows office) Creativity, ability to work in interdisciplinary teams but also able to work independently, accurately and precisely Enthusiasm, good sense of humour, being a team player and have the ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment as the company grows You are fluent in English (written and oral) We offer: A challenging, exciting job with many opportunities for personal and team contributions.
