Surgeons in Kentucky, USA, have successfully reattached a girls foot after it was severed in a freak accident at an amusement park. Kaitlyn Lassiter, 13, had been on the ride known as Superman Tower of Power at Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom in Louisville when a cable snapped and severed both of her feet above the ankle. In a mammoth 8-hour operation, surgeons were able to attach the left foot, and are hopeful that the girl will, eventually, regain most of the function in the limb. Damage to the right foot was considered too severe for any possibility of reattachment. Following the operation, Kaitlyns parents are considering changing her name to Eileen.
