Surgery/AngioGram update/results But what they ended up doing or - TopicsExpress

Surgery/AngioGram update/results But what they ended up doing or finding out yesterday was that the pressure in her venus sinus cavity were all okay. Nothing to explain where the CSF fluid is building. They did two different types of angiograms and she has cuts on both of her inside of her legs where they threaded the scope or whatever you call it up to her head. Oddly enough some canals behind both ears had higher than normal pressure, which maybe could explain her hearing and how the changes have been. Maybe and maybe not. They went ahead and put a stint in the worse one, which guess which side that was?? The LEFT one. The same one she had trouble with popping a couple of days after the decompression surgery.Dr. B is not optimistic that it is the answer or the cause of the fluid and he really thinks we need to probably consider a shunt. But he said it could take a few days to tell if there is any progress and for the fluid to drain out back to normal. So if we put in a shunt,....the only way we can do that is to wait six weeks until the plavix and aspirin are out of her system. She has already lost so much time and the pressure makes her hurt with any kind of movement, coughing, sneezing, hiccups, jarring, tapping. i am serious, it is that intense and that sensitive to things. its hard to watch her hurt so much just to do ANYTHING. What I wouldnt do if i could take the pain away from her and give it to me. But you guys prob already know i have said this a million times on this journey. I asked if the fluid they drained from the spinal tap is in a diff area then the pressure in her head and where they put the stint. Meaning since she has been much worse since they did the procedure, my thinking is that the fluid build up is back in the spine. But they are all related. and it could be anywhere in there, from what i understand. But I guess he knew I was going to ask if we can check to see where the pressure is at now, meaning a spinal tap or it was just a logical question he was going to address anyways, and I was indeed going to ask it bc my concern is getting her relief and figuring out how to help her. I dont want her to have another spinal tap, another needle or anymore torture but she is in so much pain, we have to get this figured out. its going to drive her and I to the nuthouse if not. Me because it kills me, it breaks me to watch her hurt so bad, and i cant imagine how bad it feels for her I just cant and I feel so angry that I cant fix this problem or help her. Anyways, we wont go there lol. The plan was to be in ICU for a day, be monitored and then go home. We were hopeful of being out by Thanksgiving but in the back of my head, i knew it was slim. Doesnt mean we still werent disappointed bc we both were lol. But nothing has controlled the pain, they have tried a ton of things. Some things will work for a while but she gets so tired that she finally cant fight all the medications and then will sleep about 15 -30 mins and then wake up screaming bc she jerked or moved in her sleep and its painful. She cant have the cpap still bc the scar is still trying to heal up and so she is on oxygen. So it was a rather long night on Wednesday night and a lot of tears from her and a lot of it hurts so bad. i am sad she has to suffer so much. I can tell you this, though, everyone from the check in to the operating room table to the anesthesiologist to the icu nurses, have been amazing and fantastic. They keep making exceptions for me to be with her. I would have never thought they would allow anyone into the operating room. The recovery room I wasnt too shocked at and then in ICU they have two 2 hour periods that they make the family leave. the very minute we got in here, our assigned nurse said she can stay, she doesnt have to leave and then told me you got exception privileges. lol. I got in the icu room and there was two very not so comfy chairs bc this icu is pretty small spaced and the late night nurse said we dont typically allow recliners but we will get you one since you are staying overnight and they did. I am very grateful at how well they are treating Jazzy and listening to her and I and it truly is a team effort. So it remains to be seen where we go from here but I will keep you guys posted.
