Surgery today to remove my Hickman line. This is the third catheter line Ive had (and removed) in 4 years. Ive had it for almost 8 months now. Doctors use It for chemo, IVs, blood transfusions, my transplant, etc. Its useful because I wouldnt have to get pricked with needles when I was coming in for blood draws every couple of days. It was also a hassle having to flush the lines at home with saline and heparin, and wrap up the lines to keep it all dry while showering.
