Surprise, surprise: the Recorder says vote no on Charter changes, - TopicsExpress

Surprise, surprise: the Recorder says vote no on Charter changes, calling for the establishment of a bipartisan panel of community-minded souls (never mind that the make-up of this commission was just that) and that the public needs to weigh in on the changes. Well, no one showed up for the public hearing except for a couple of the committed opposition. Commission Chair Peter Califano spoke repeatedly to the papers during the process, he and members wrote letters to the editor, and he was interviewed by the local radio stations. There have been flyers distributed, emails sent and regular social media posts to inform as much of the public as possible. Those opposed, especially the old republican guard, have no interest in seeing any sort of change if it is proposed by this administration. That is their only stance. One would hope that peopled want to be more informed. But I guess its easier to chant rhetoric than really delve into detailed analysis. Sad for our community. Please VOTE YES tomorrow.
