Surrey Youth Turn Their Passions into Business! PechaKucha Night Surrey Vol. 2: Young Entrepreneurs February 4 Centre Stage at City Hall IN BRIEF: Centre Stage at City Hall (13450 – 104 Avenue) with the Surrey Board of Trade present PechaKucha Night Surrey Vol. 2: Young Entrepreneurs on February 4. Fast-paced presentations begin at 7pm. Doors open at 6:30pm, with hard-rocking music by Surrey band Switch to Black. Tickets are $15, including all fees. Tickets will also be available at the door. — You’ll be amazed at what some of Surrey’s most vibrant youth are up to during an evening of fast-paced presentations by young entrepreneurs who are turning ideas into reality. Centre Stage at City Hall with the Surrey Board of Trade present PechaKucha Night Surrey Vol. 2: Young Entrepreneurs on February 4. From 6:30pm to 7pm, Surrey band Switch to Black (facebook/AKCHSB) kicks things into gear with a hard-rocking set, and the quick-fire presentations start at 7pm, hosted by Anita Huberman, CEO of the Surrey Board of Trade. The young entrepreneurs include: • Mattias Boon, President of Streetrich Hip Hop Society (streetrich.ca) • Glen Chua, Founder of the Surrey International Film Festival (surreyfilmfest.ca) • Kevin Cruz, Co-Founder of ORA Scents (sfu.ca/io/venture/venture-connection/meet-the-companies/ORA.html) and 4th year student at SFU’s Beedie School of Business • Paige Glazier, Creator of the pro-social behaviour program Team Orange (teamorangestrong/dev) • Tyler Reid, Founder and Operator of Tyler’s Firewood Company (facebook/pages/Tylers-Firewood-Company/123911611034785) PechaKucha is a presentation format where 20 images are shown for 20 seconds each. The images advance automatically as the presenter speaks, making each presentation fast and fun. The format was devised by Astrid KIein and Mark Dytham of Klein Dytham architecture. The first PechaKucha Night was held in Tokyo in 2003 and has since spread to over 700 cities around the world.
