Surrogate. - A She had never felt needed. She had never heard people calling out her name for help. She had never quite been at the centre of someones universe. But it had never worried her much. She had a best friend. And even though they strayed off course most of the time, she knew she could trust on her friend. Until two years ago. Her best friend had fallen in love to marry her brother. Leaving her feeling hollow and alone. The two people who mattered most in her life were now enough for each other. She had tried everything, from enrolling herself at night school, to working extra shifts at the hospital to indulging in a breast enhancement surgery. None seemed to help with cheering her mood. None of these seemed to make her fall in love with herself or let other people do so. Her brother and his wife had been having trouble conceiving. A third person who would be so close to her, yet far away. It had been a while of exhausting visits at the fertility clinic, doing it in a cup and weighing alternative options. She had silently sat through it all. Empathized with them, held onto her best friends hand as she blatantly blamed her brother for it everything, had lent a shoulder when her brother cried out on losing out the woman he loved. It has been eight months since then. Things have changed now. She has a person who is alive only for her. She has a person who cares whether she is healthy. Who cares if she is happy. Who cares if she was eating and sleeping properly. She has life growing inside her. For once, she felt she was at the centre of the universe .
