Survey Team On-Field Monday Morning Caldwell Airport - TopicsExpress

Survey Team On-Field Monday Morning Caldwell Airport Users: SUMMARY: There will be a survey team operating on the field (runway ends, taxiway, transient ramp area) Monday, June 23rd, from approximately 8:00 am till Noon local time. There should be no impact to normal operations. DETAILS: This years FAA sponsored Airport Improvement Program project involves planning for the rehabilitation of the oldest asphalt on the field -- the transient ramp area and roughly the first row of tie-down spots. The Caldwell city council has approved a contract with our newly designated airport engineers, J-U-B Engineers of Boise, to prepare the plans for that work. The general schedule includes creating the engineering plans this year (2014). Due to the expected overall cost of the rehab project, in 2015 we will not perform any grant-funded work and can, therefore, carry over our usual 2015 FAA grant allocation into 2016. That should put us in position to actually perform the ramp rehab in the summer of 2016. The next step in this overall process is to update the survey information related to the ramp area. Hence the subject of this message. In fairly short order we will be back announcing that another crew will be on the transient ramp drilling core samples to determine the condition of the base material under the asphalt, but thats a message for another day when that work is actually scheduled. Please exercise caution when operating your aircraft in the vicinity of any and all ground crews. Thank you! Rob Oates, Airport Manager
