Survival of the Fittest! Stupidity reigns it seems. I was watching an amazing African nature documentary the other night, within it there were loads of examples of the old Survival of the fittest thing, bull elephants fought for their position as did male giraffes and various other species. After watching the brilliant and beautifully filmed programme, I was struck how though weve transcended the animal kingdom weve still not transcended that last grip of our animal nature, it seems interesting to me that with our comparable high intelligence and opposable thumbs. we still cannot release that grip of our animalistic self. WE ARE THE FITTEST! WEVE MADE IT!..... We have the intelligence to live in harmony with nature! We have the intelligence and resources to look after one another on a global scale! Yet everyday starvation takes men women and children, as do wars and multitudes of other dominance based human behaviours. We have transcended the need for dominant Bull elephants, yet we still follow them blindly. Nature as gifted us enough intelligence to join with her in what could be an amazingly beautiful union and yet we maul her, rape her and defile her as we do with one another.
