Susan Offill Martinez handed me the number 11. So here we go: 1. In junior high, high school, and college, I used the first name Lee because my mom had to send us to live with my father, and that way I could keep my sense of self since she gave away Lee. So says my therapist. I changed back to Eileen after college graduation and attaining my first teaching job. 2. I still get freaked out by the dark and sometimes by thunderstorms. 3. I taught at Paul Revere Junior High on Sunset in Pacific Palisades for 3 years. I taught Jeanie Buss (partial owner of Lakers now); Jerry Wests son, and Steve McQueens daughter. They were all very nice kids. 4. My best and longest friendship has been with Mr. Garrison. I respect his opinion on almost any subject. Hes so smart! Ive eaten more lunches w/ Mr. G than with any other person. 5. Ostentatious displays of wealth make me sick. Why not help people who need help instead of buying that 200th pair of shoes? I dont support kids running around toy stores with scanners as if theyre making a wedding registry for their birthdays or holidays. 6. My kids may look like me, but they are amazingly different, leading their lives and teaching their mom new stuff. So proud of Aaron and Alisha (guess you knew that one) 7. I make stupid decisions when I win on a slot machine. I love to play slots. 8. I was born in New Orleans, but I would never want to live there. 9. My favorite get-togethers are with my family--any branch. 10. When I die, I want to be cremated and have the family strew my ashes in my favorite places. I have the service all set up and saved on my computer. 11. I fought over higher standards (needed them) with every principal except Myron Sproul. Too often, kids are not pushed or held accountable. There you go.
