Sushmita Banerjee, an Indian author whose book about escaping Taliban-ruled Afghanistan became a Bollywood movie, has been shot and killed. Sushmita wrote about the harsh lifestyle of women in rural Afghanistan and chose to return to the country several years ago, working in health care. According to the police chief, the Taliban came to her house, dragged her from her home and shot her 15 times.
