Suspect in Several Bank Robberies Arrested after Robbing People’s United Bank Worcester, MA (May 29, 2014) -On Thursday May 29, 2014, members of the Worcester Police Detective Bureau, the Massachusetts State Police and the F.B.I., were working in an undercover capacity positioned near various banks conducting surveillance. The purpose of this surveillance was to cover banks in the northern part of the city that have been the target of recent robberies. Investigators believed that one male had been responsible for six bank robberies in the city dating back to March 12, 2014. At approximately 11:30 AM, one of the undercover officers positioned near 75 Gold Star Boulevard was watching the People’s United Bank. At this time, the officer observed a black male, wearing a black baseball hat with a red brim, a white zip up hooded sweatshirt enter the bank. This male fit the description of the suspect that they believed robbed the prior banks. The officer called out to nearby detectives about his observations. There were several undercover officers nearby. Less than one minute later, the male exited the bank and began to walk briskly in the direction that he had come from. The officers closed in and subsequently discovered the male hiding inside a vehicle that was parked in the lot next to the Girl’s Scout building. The suspect, identified as Prince Dennis, 36-years-old of 39 Westminster Street, Worcester, was identified by bank employees as the man who had just entered the bank, handed a clerk a note that was threatening in nature and demanded cash. Witnesses stated that Mr. Prince took the cash and fled the bank. Mr. Prince was also linked to the following bank robberies: TD Bank, 430 West Boylston Street, 03/12/2014 Worcester Credit Union, 520 West Boylston Street, 03/25/2014 Peoples United, 120 Front Street, 04/17/14 Webster Five Cents Savings Bank, 04/21/2014 Leominster Credit Union, 910 West Boylston Street, 04/24/2014 United Bank 1 West Boylston Street, 05/14/14 Mr. Dennis was charged with four counts of Armed Robbery and three counts of Unarmed Robbery. There were no injuries reported during these robberies. Mr. Dennis will be arraigned tomorrow at the Worcester County District.
