Suspects Detained in Armed Robbery at Santa Rosa Jewelry Store Press Democrat (07/16/13) Johnson, Julie; Rossmann, Randi An armed robbery at Bennett Valley Jewelers in Santa Rosa, Calif., ended in gunfire on Tuesday when a store employee opened fire against the robbers in self defense. Santa Rosa Police Lt. Ray Navarro said that no one was struck by the gunfire, and the robbers were able to escape with an unspecified amount of jewelry to a nearby apartment complex where a getaway driver was waiting in a red car. An alert was broadcast, and within 20 minutes a Nissan sedan was pulled over. The men inside were found to match the descriptions of those involved in the robbery. Two of the men, Traveon Banks-Austin and Alexander Tyvon Brandon, were booked into Sonoma County Jail on suspicion of armed robbery and assault with a deadly weapon. The third suspect, Ervin Dixon Jr., who police suspect was the driver of the alleged getaway car, was arrested on suspicion of armed robbery. Sgt. Dave Linscomb said that a firearm similar to the shotgun used by the suspects in the robbery and other items believed to have been taken from the business were found inside the car.
