Suzi asked me for a dad story, so here we go: i love telling this story because i have SUCH vivid memories and i can still feel what happened. when i was 4 years old, we lived in watertown, mass. our family went on a camping trip with some friends (this is probably why i HATE camping, to this day). we got up in the morning and the 2 mamas got started cooking breakfast on a camp stove out of the back of their station wagon: eggs and bacon. the other family had a dog named gretchen and i was utterly smitten. for some reason, dad had the movie camera out and trained on me, and as i snatched a fistful of bacon and fed it to the dog, this hand came out of stage right and spanked my little 4yr old bottom. somehow, so quickly, he did a ZOOM IN on my tonsils. even though the spanking was done quite publicly, i got a big charge out of having this commemorated on film, i guess because everyone commented on the injustice AND how adorable i was.
