Suzie Gagnon, Artist, Musician and Performer with Cirque du Soleil Alegría Film Screening and Discussion Halmi Room 141, Newhouse 3 September 10, 2013, 7:00pm and The Business of Cirque du Soleil The Bandier Program Soyars Leadership Lecture Series Lender Auditorium 007, Whitman School of Management September 12, 2013, 6:30pm Suzie Gagnon is an artist, musician and 17-year veteran of Cirque du Soleil with whom she has appeared in nearly 6,000 performances. Gagnon was a child prodigy on the accordion, recording 5 CDs of traditional Quebécois folk music by the age of 17. After receiving her degree in French Literature and Philosophy from Laval University, she auditioned for the circus and has been on the road since--first with the show Alegría for 10 years and currently with Corteo. In addition, she has pursued a range of independent projects: from recordings to film. Ms. Gagnon joins us at Newhouse during a week long break from her tour of South America for two events. On Tuesday, September 10 Ms. Gagnon will screen the film version of Alegría (1999), in which she appears, followed by Q&A. On Thursday, September 12, she will deliver The Bandier Program Soyars Leadership Lecture on the Cirque du Soleil business model from her perspective under the big top.
