Swaddling. Does your baby love it or loathe it? Swaddling - TopicsExpress

Swaddling. Does your baby love it or loathe it? Swaddling recreates the womb environment, keeping babys startle reflex at bay and helping them to calm and settle. In many babies it can help them sleep better and for longer periods. Some babies seem to object and protest to being swaddled initially which can lead parents into thinking their baby doesnt like to be swaddled. This is true, some babies will naturally sleep better if their hands are out free and accessible for soothing. However, I always recommend giving swaddling a red-hot crack before you decide its not for your little one. The idea is simple, even if your baby protests with initially being swaddled for naps but then sleeps amazeballs then you are on the right track! The swaddle is doing its job properly. Remember that if you are using a muslin or blanket to swaddle then choose a stretchy, breathable fabric to create a firm embrace that absorbs movement. This will help prevent baby from escaping! If you find that your baby enjoys and sleeps better being swaddled but is constantly getting out of it, then it might be time to invest in a Houdini-Proof swaddle. The Sleep Centre has a wall of fantastic sleep products - come in and see the range! Ergo Cocoon, Ergo Pouch, Miracle Blanket, Love To Dream, Halo, Sleepy Wings......and more!
