Swami Rama often talked about these two principles as the secret - TopicsExpress

Swami Rama often talked about these two principles as the secret to living in the external world: adjustment and contentment. Contentment is peace. It is the result of abiding in the truth of who you are. It is the gift that unfolds as you glimpse that part of you that is free from suffering and disease at every level, the part of you that is limitless. Not only does such a part of you exist, but your lasting happiness depends on your finding it. There will be times, however, when sitting quietly and delighting in the treasures of the Infinite will not lead you toward either lasting or short-term happiness. At such times you have to refine your relationship (to yourself, to others, or to things in your life)... at such times adjustment is required. The well-being of every organism is directly related to its capacity to adjust. Stress is a call to adjust your attitude about what is causing the stress, your actions, or both. In this sense, stress can actually be helpful, since it is a call to adjust in order to improve. Are you truly content? If not, is it time to recognize that the stress you are experiencing may be a call to adjustment...to improve?
