Swamp chestnut oak (Quercus michauxii) looks very similar to chestnut oak, but I find that the leaf width is more pronounced on the ones Ive seen. Also the underside of the leaf should feel felty. This species has a more southern range than chestnut oak and is found throughout the state except the northeast corner. I found this huge acorn (over 2 inches) in a moist habitat, but apparently the normal size is closer to 1.5 inches. This is in the white oak group so the acorns mature in one year.
