Sweden takes in the most immigrants (mainly from Etritrea, Somalia, Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan etc.) per capita in Europe. Meanwhile the Gulf states; Saudi Arabia, Qatar, UAE and co. have not resettled one Syrian refugee. Not one. These are some of the richest citizens in the world, far more than Europe, due to their tiny populations and enormous energy reserves. For instance, the GDP per capita for Qatar citizens only is $690,000. That is obscene and over 20x the GDP per capita of Germany or Sweden who take an enormous amount of refugees. Yet the Gulf countries have not resettled ONE Syrian refugee. Not one! Despite having linguistic, ethnic, religious and cultural links with the Gulf states. Not only that, but in a step which shows a level of cruelty and tribalism of which I could not even conceive, Saudi Arabia announced, just as news of King Abdullahs death filtered through, that they would ban Saudis from adopting Syrian orphans.
