Sweet Maury has been adopted! Maury (the cat in the foreground) was rescued in 2013 over a couple of day period from a drain pipe in Shaw Park in Clayton. He was all alone, about 7 weeks old, and living in this pipe - darting out now and then to scrounge for whatever he could find and then darting right back in. I was eventually able to gain his trust on day two for enough of a split second to entice him into a carrier with tuna and QUICKLY shut the door. Didnt know my reflexes were still so sharp, but I was determined. He was in reasonably good physical shape, but SO very needy emotionally. We all fell in love with Maury immediately, and this is how he came to be a much adored member of the AH family. Fun Maury Fact - upon first glance I thought he was female so I named him Rose-Marie after my favorite character on the Dick Van Dyke Show. Upon second glance we realized he was male so we swapped the name Rose-Marie for Maury (another great Dick Van Dyke Show character). I must admit Maury is not the most perfectly behaved cat. Does some nipping. BUT he is totally lovable and one day the perfect people for Maury walked in and saw that immediately. His transition to his new home took a little time and effort with a bump or two along the way because the resident cat was not quite sure about this whole thing, but now Maury and his new cat brother Merle have worked it out and are hanging out together! Thanks so much to the wonderful folks who adopted Maury (now Leonard) for their patience, and for appreciating the wonderfulness of dear Maury/Leonard! Yea!
