Sweet bread. Sweet bread, clove, and honey. At Full City roast, the China ManZhongTian is dominated by sweet bread. The dry grounds smell like clove and cinnamon sweet bread with honey. Once wetted the fragrance becomes deeper and molasses come to the front, but gradually fades into a lighter sweetness like that of raw cane sugar, all the while maintaining that distinct breadiness. The break unleashes a brilliant spiced aroma of cinnamon, clove, and cardamom with honey sweetness. The flavour in the cup is sweet and almost effervenscent, and reminds me of buttered soda bread with honey. It has a sweeter finish with fresh baked wheat bread lingering long after all other flavours have faded. The mouthfeel is light but satisfying and unbelievably smooth. It is a nice, full, but mild cup; pleasant, rich, not overpowering, but deeply satisfying. A review of the China ManZhongTian by our very own Zach Huntington.
