Sweet little Poppy who came into care in Port Macquarie as a private surrender has fit right in with KC and her family, including the 2 dogs :) This is partly why we do quick home visits before most of our adoptions - to ensure that there is a safe indoor environment ( eg no functional doggie doors, torn screens etc ) and also to see the existing dynamic with children and other pets in residence. We like to know that the cat or kitten is well matched to the environment , as some cats are timid, some will not tolerate dogs, some are freaked out in very large spaces, like a McMansion. Others will not cope long term in a small apartment....theyre all different. The ideal is that not only do we have our felines adopted, but that it is an arrangement that will last for the cat/ kittens lifetime, and things are as compatible as possible. When I visited KCs home and met her dogs, I knew all would be fine with them and tiny little Poppy as KC had full control over her pups , only to look at them to elicit desired behaviours like sitting, standing down etc. She also had realistic ideas and expectations of Poppys first weeks and how she was going to introduce her young son to being a responsible pet owner and respect the kittens size, age and limitations. Poppy is doing tremendously and its great to see another successful family adoption :) Yas
