Yeah, there are caliphs after the death of the Prophet (SAW). The copy of the Holy Quran which was collected in a volume remained in the possession of AbuBakr and after his demise in that of Umar and after Umars death, the copy was transfered to the custody of HAFSAH (the daughter of Umar and also a widow of the Holy Prophet (SAW). The official scribes appointed by Uthman to make copies from the original one were Zaid Ibn Thabit, Abdullah Ibn al-Zahayr, Said Ibn al-As and Abdur-Raheem Ibn Harith. The person who told you to ask me that question is right. There are some Ayat in the Quran when reciting them, the reciter should prostrate. I think we have about 14 or 15 of such in the Quran. Some of them include: Q7 vs 206 (Surat Al-Araf) Q 13 vs 13 (Surat Ar-Rad) Q 19 vs 58 (Surat Maryam) Q 96 vs 19 (Surat Al-Alaq) etc. What the reciter normally says is: Sajada wajhiya lillahi khalaqahu wa sawwarahu, wa shaqqa samahu wa basarahu, tabarak-Allahu Ahsan-ul-khaliqun. God says in the Q 2 vs 187: They are Libas (i.e. body cover, or screen, or Sakan (i.e. you enjoy the pleasure of living with them) for you and you are the same for them........... That the way husband and wife relationship is described in the Quran.
