Swim...........Bike...........Run.......... Welcome to the Newsletter of the Coffs Harbour Triathlon Club REGISTRATION DAY The countdown is on. It’s only 4 weeks until our first race of the season. Spring is in the air and the sea temperature edging its way up to the early 20s. The season is shaping up to be a good one, with warm temperatures for the early races and lots of great events on the calendar. So don’t forget to register with Triathlon NSW & also with the CHTC via the online registration at trinsw.org.au. For new members or members who wish to use the facility, a Registration Day will be held on this coming Sunday 18th August at the Yacht Club from 9am to 11am. All CHTC members are required to be members of Triathlon NSW prior to registration. Please contact a committee member at committee@coffstri if you have any questions. JUNIOR SCHOLARSHIPS As part of their annual sponsorship agreement with the Coffs Harbour Triathlon Club, Ventoux Cycles in association with Felt Bicycles will supply a road bike to be allocated to a junior member for their exclusive use for the duration of the triathlon 2013-2014 season. In conjunction, the recipient will receive unlimited entry to morning swim squads, or evening triathlon squads at the Coffs Harbour Olympic Pool along with a weekly structured training program provided by Andrew Rowlings. A big thanks to Al and Andrew for providing our juniors with this invaluable talent development opportunity. Further details and applications forms will be available at the Registration Day on 18th August. MENTAL TOUGHNESS WORKSHOP FOR TRIATHLETES This is set to be an interesting workshop and numbers are growing. It’s not too late to enrol. Please see the details below. You have until 16th August to enrol & pay. Details are below. What is in it for you: Mental training specific to the triathlete. Opportunity to express your needs in the Participant Information Form. See attachments, as our workshop will be based on the level 1 coaching course but adapted to our express needs. How much: $30 only, thanks to the foresight of our committee to see the benefit of continuing education for the members. How to enrol: 1. Pay $30 to club account BSB 704 328 Account 197693. Introduction to Mental Toughness Training Friday 16th August metufintrocoffs.eventbrite.au Mental Toughness Training for Coaches and Parents Sunday 1st September metufcoffs.eventbrite.au WOOLGOOLGA TRIATHLON FESTIVAL Woopi Community Tri has been renamed to Woopi Triathlon Festival and is set to be held on 28 – 29 September. The event has a packed programme that includes something for everyone and is a fantastic starter to the new season’s race calendar. This year will see the regular Woopi Community Triathlon (800m/30km/8km) on the Sunday, along with the Novice Triathlon (300m/6km/2km). On the Saturday, there will be the Tough Kids Challenge, Charity Fun Runs (2km or 5km) and a Carb Loading Night. Entries are online at registernow.au or contact the Race Director Leeann Lloyd on 041 633 6524 for more details. COFFS HARBOUR RUNNING FESTIVAL Another great local event is also drawing very close. The Coffs Harbour Running Festival will be held on 15 September on the Coffs Creek Walkway. Village Sports is a sponsor of CHTC and this event is a great way to test the legs on home soil. This event is growing in popularity and showcases some of Coffs Harbour’s natural highlights. A series of distances cater for all abilities – Half Marathon, 10km fun run, 5km fun run/walk, 3km family run. Kate Marsden is after an entry level bike that would suit a 15 year old boy, approximately 180cm tall. A size 56cm frame would probably be suitable. If you have a bike that matches that description and it’s in good condition, please contact Kate at [email protected]. 2. Wal Brooks is also looking for a 20” or 650 road bike for an 8 year old boy. If you have one that would be suitable, please contact Wal on 0439 624 095.
