Switching gears a bit to the world stage, I have no issues with a peoples right to self determination as may be the case with Crimea if properly executed. I only have issues with oppressive coercion in this regard and militarily too by Russia. Our preferential diversions to the west ignoring Ukraines rights and stakes here in favour of maud slinging at US misses the point. And the historical antecedents always cited does not provide veritable grounds for the way Russia has behaved in this present instance. Institutionalization of bad precedents must be abhorred in these times. Syria for instance is a good reference for how matters impacting sovereignty should be resolved. Russia succeeded in out playing and bruising US ego in the most diplomatic of ways akin to good reason and balance. That can hardly be faulted, not the criminal violation of Ukraines sovereignty and annexation of Crimea as booty by the Napoleon wannabe - Vladimir Putin!
