Sword Art Online: Hollow Fragment first impressions Review and Guide I loved watching the S.A.O. anime and decided to pick up this game the other day on my vita. Heres a short overview of the story but if you have not seen the anime I recommend watching the first season as the game and my review may spoil some of the events. The game starts out with a cut scene that happens with the floor lvl 75 fight but it glitches so that they dont end the game and leave but have to finish up to floor 100. You start the game on floor 76 and can not go to any floors below that because of the glitch so you must finish the game. You learn that there has been a DLC added called the Hollow Area that you may go to do hollow missions and multi-player and it also has a girl that can help you named Philia. You are reunited with your friends from S.A.O. and two other people, your sister/cousin Leafa and a stranger named Sinon. The game play is a basic attack using the circle button to get your burst attack or by pressing the Left or Right trigger and the corresponding attack buttons allows for a wide array of skilled attacks. As you level up you gain skill points to spend in a large skill map to unlock more attack skills that you can set to a skill palette to be used with the trigger buttons. You have to do certain objectives before taking on the main boss for each floor. While completing these objectives it’s a good idea to also do hollow missions and use the implement element research. The hollow area is a place to do hollow missions alone or with the NPC you have with you or you can do the multi-player option. The multi-player is either alone, which means off line using NPCs, or together, which uses online adhoc. The implement element research helps but can only be used by doing hollow missions. go into the menu while in the control room for the hollow area and select the implement menu. There are a lot of different research to choose from. Just click one you like and click “check start” and then go into an area on the hollow map and wander around until a hollow mission starts. When you do the mission it starts the research, just complete whatever the objective for the research to unlock it. When it is unlocked go back to the control room and back into the menu to implement the research and pick a different one to start researching. While wandering out in the open world game or in the hollow area you can bring one of the in-game NPCs with you. You can then help that NPC level up to do the boss raids with you. There are also romance options with 6 of the girl NPCs. To get them to rank up you need to have one of them in a party with you and walk around town. When they have a speech bubble above their head that is orange talk to them and it will start a mini game to raise friendship. Talk to them enough and you can get their mood to rank 5. When this happens go outside the inn and make sure that no other NPC that you can have a romance with can see you. Then select bridal carry and carry the NPC up to your room. Approach the bed and it will start a pillow talk mini game and event. This is the best way to start ranking up their overall feelings toward you. Asuna Date Preview youtu.be/ILzCxxQXYTw Asuna Bridal Carry & Pillow Talk youtu.be/XskGNKkmPgs Though I just started this game and it will take me a while to finish it because I’m a completionist I find it fun and entertaining. There are some problems with it like the grammatical errors and you have to re-grab your partner’s hand if you were holding hands and switched areas. The game is in Japanese with English subtitles; there is no English dub version. Overall the fights flow smoothly, the graphics are nice, there is a lot of story missions, and side missions, and it gives you a ton of ways to customize your character. It is definitely worth playing if you like JRPGs.
