Australia’s creative arts sector is worth about $45 billion a year nationally. Of that, Sydney’s industry is worth about $25 billion, Melbourne’s about $14 billion. When told this news, Melbournians refuted the claims, saying “Bah! Art is not an industry you suntanned heathen! It is a way of LIFE!” before splashing the reporter with their $15 designer coffee made from Thai elephant poo and walking off wearing their hand-knitted sweaters while stroking their giant hipster beard.
