Symbols of the Holy Spirit – The Seal The seal is a symbol - TopicsExpress

Symbols of the Holy Spirit – The Seal The seal is a symbol close to that of anointing. "The Father has set his seal" on Christ and also seals us in him. Because this seal indicates the indelible effect of the anointing with the Holy Spirit in the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and Holy Orders, the image of the seal (sphragis) has been used in some theological traditions to express the indelible "character" imprinted by these three unrepeatable sacraments. (Principles of Christianity) John 6:27 (KJV) 27 Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed. 2 Corinthians (KJV) 22 Who hath also sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts. Ephesians 1:13 (KJV) 13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that Holy Spirit of promise, Ephesians 4:3 (KJV) 3 Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
