Symbols, philosophy and reality The well know shiva-lingam. After some researches I find out that this is one of the most mysterious object, a pure synthesis of forms and concepts in a simple concrete shape. It represents the consciousness (or spirit) being one with the energy; the two in one, as a perfect image of the whole universe and phenomena. This has been a symbol of adoration and prayer for thousands of years and still keeps within the halo of mystery, surviving the challenge of time, like only objective reality can do. I am a Westerner, grown up in a culture which is very far from the one closely connected with this symbol, yet, when I sculpt it, I perceive something beyond cultures or believes, a universal message that has something to say to everybody.
