Syncrude responds to serious incident at Aurora mine FORT McMURRAY, Alta. – Syncrude responded to an incident at its Aurora mining facility north of Fort McMurray on Monday, July 1. A contract worker was fatally injured as a result of an incident involving heavy equipment. “Our thoughts are with the worker’s family and friends during this difficult time,” said Syncrude President and CEO Scott Sullivan.
