Synergy It just drives me crazy when people trying to lose weight - TopicsExpress

Synergy It just drives me crazy when people trying to lose weight simply cut calories or train 2x as hard to make up for eating the wrong foods. If you’re truly sincere about your goal why wouldn’t you maximize your effort and utilize both in your regime? The Webster’s definition of Synergy is: Combined effort being greater than parts: the working together of two or more people, organizations, or things, especially when the result is greater than the sum of their individual effects or capabilities. Doesn’t this make more sense? As we grow older our metabolism slows, food has a different effect on us, exercise becomes paramount as it is the only way we can battle the effects of our ever slowing metabolism and increase the odds that we can keep body fat in check. In addition, eating the “right” foods in the proper portions will maximize our efforts in the gym. But, take note that you would have to have a good workout program, designed by a fitness professional that is designed for your goal in order for you to achieve this synergistic effect. The same thing goes for your nutrition. Most people who start their weight loss journey may lose a fair amount of weight in the beginning. But, after a few weeks, their body will tend to adapt to their diet and exercise plans that they may need a more advanced level of programming in the two areas. Most of the time, this will involve changing their current programs to continually see results. In fact, this is how fat loss plateaus happen - people doing the same thing for a number of years and yet they expect to get results. So, how do we best utilize synergy? Try these ideas Try a trainer/pre-planned training regiment/diet regiment I tried golf once, no instruction, just got some clubs and started swinging, didn’t make any headway until I found a pro to help me. Why is training any different? Its not, we aren’t born with the instructions on how to work this wonderful machine, We need help. Find someone who has experience and success in the business, try them once or twice a week, write down their routines, follow them to the letter, you will know quickly if they are right for you and, no, not all trainers are for all people, like anything you have to find one you’re comfortable with, yet one that also pushes you beyond your comfort zone. Same with diet,; there are a gazillion diets out there, find one, follow it to the letter, see how it works for you, if it works well, use it, if not find another, you will learn quickly, if you pay attention, how different foods effect your body, once you really start notice those effects THEN you will start tweaking.. Tweaking You may have noticed earlier when I spoke of following a trainer or a diet “to the letter” this is a very important part of your future success, If the science behind a diet/workout program is sound, generally speaking, it will work. So when you hire a trainer or start a specific diet, follow the science exactly, this is why you hired them or why you started following this specific diet, this is the only way you know how well this program works for you, people, may have very vastly different responses to certain diets or training regiments, there is no “one size fits all.. but once you have learned the science for yourself, usually from several different trainers and or diets, once you have seen how all these different techniques and or foods effect you, THEN and ONLY THEN can you start tweaking those plans effectively. Keep your body guessing The human body is an amazing biomechanical machine, its ability to adapt to stress is incredible, don’t let it, a plateau is your body’s way of letting you know it has adapted, switch things up often and BEFORE you reach that plateau, re-calculate your caloric deficit, change your macros, try carb cycling, change your workouts, high rep weeks/low rep weeks, heavy weight/light weight, by changing your diet AND your training routine you change the whole game, too many different stress’s for your body to adapt to, keeping you dropping and on task. If you’re one of those people trying to shed a few pounds by solely dieting or solely by training, the simple strategy of combining the two may be a way to help you break through the plateaus you keep hitting, I realize that a personal trainer can be a little pricey but most gyms will allow you one or two free sessions and in the long run, learning from a professional will immediately benefit you and your health and that’s the main reason we do this isn’t it?
