Syracuse 1972: The Mahavishnu Orchestra concert and interview footage...! Mammoth! The footage quality is awful I know, but no apologies for a massive musical statement made here 42 years ago by some of the greatest musicians and composers of their time! Nothing like it before, very little like it since! The power, intensity and raw spirit-energy ripping through these guys was undeniable. In the concert and in the bits of interview footage, John Mclaughlin is clearly baked off his face, but both musically and in terms of speaking gentle but great truths he came far closer than anyone does most of the time, especially nowadays, to touching the cool fire of The Great Spirit!
