Syria: Two million children starving The report, "The Fame in a war zone," with the data and testimonies of malnourished children due to the conflict and the recommendations of the Organization, launches a powerful warning about the conditions of childhood and of his Syrian daily struggle against the lack of food to survive. The war has in fact destroyed the economy of Syria, where the Human Development Index has regressed 35 years. Nearly 7 million people have fallen into poverty since the conflict began, grain production has fallen to less than half the level it was before the crisis and the cost of food has jumped, while that of basic supplies is doubled. Even those who have a job, because of inflation no longer able to buy enough food, as states now account for 40% of households in the seven governorates where it was possible to make a survey.
