Syrian Heritage Days Begin at Azem Palace in Damascus Apr 21, 2014 Damascus - Activities of the Syrian Heritage Days, organized by the Ministry of Culture, kicked off on Monday at Azem Palace in the Old City in Damascus. The three-day event is organized on occasion of World Heritage Day, which is observed on April 18th. The events activities include handicrafts displays, with artisans showing their products and how they make them in front of an audience, in addition to traditional activities like storytelling, peep shows, Qanun music performances, puppet shows, and a fashion show showcasing traditional attire. The activities also include performances of Mawalwiyah dancing by the Sham Dervishes troupe, a performance by Umayya Popular Arts troupe, a calligraphy exhibition, and a fine arts exhibition showcasing Damascene traditions. A heritage festival will also be held at Dar al-Assad for Culture and Arts which will include honoring creative figures in the field of heritage. Sana
