AVG provide a free service whereby you can create an AVG Rescue Disk, a DVD that you can boot from your PC which will scan your PC and will try to remove any virus it finds. In many cases this will clean and remove the virus and hopefully allow you to start your system. Obviously if your system isnt booting up then you need to have this disk to hand, or access to another system to create the disk, but it can be extremely useful and also save you money by allowing you to fix problems yourself rather than call an engineer.
