T I M E...... .. between Shovabazar and Ahiritolla, beside the circular railway track, facing the river Ganga on the left. This is an old building, not in the best of conditions. In Bengali, we call this a typical soriki bari (= house whose different parts are owned by different members of a family tree). One can guess the passage of time reflected in the different styles of architecture caught in the 3 levels of the building. Being independently owned, the owners choose a style to their liking, and also the colors they prefer. One can see plenty of these elements in North Kolkata, which still bears the signs of time.
