T&TEC STATEMENT REGARDING POWER OUTAGE IN WEST TRINIDAD: T&TEC is working to restore the electricity supply to customers in west Trinidad after a fire at the West Moorings Substation at 6.08 p.m. Fire officers are currently on-site extinguishing the blaze, but the Commission has implemented contingency plans and is rerouting power to affected areas, while the Fire Service continues it work. Customers can expect varying restoration times from 9 p.m. to midnight. Affected areas include Diego Martin, Shore Lands, Carenage and The Islands. The cause of the fire on the No. 1 66/32kV transformer is unknown at this time. T&TEC is collaborating with the relevant state agencies to return to normalcy in the shortest possible time.
