T-bone steaks tonight were $11-15 a piece. A package of hamburger for a chili mix $10+...I have my budget...Im okay. I just have to be creative. I truly love the concept of this nation and its original ideals. Today, our cultural holds a broken dream. Corporate welfare in the billions of dollars. CEOs sucking funds. A rush to any war that is handy to fortify the Military Industrial Complex. Congresspersons voting raises and outlandish benefits....and yet the poor are ignored...nay, are subjected to cruel indifference and ridicule. If very fortunate, disability and Social Security pensions may get a 1-1.5% increase while many food items have increased 10-20% just in the last 12 months. Social justice in this consumer driven culture is a sick joke. I will survive by ingenuity and grace. Many others are physically and mentally in much worse shape than I. Pork barrel politics trump the needy. War is more important, too. People living on the edge of financial limits, with no real savings and no desire to strengthen the infrastructure of this great nation have paid a great price for narcissism. I am not all doom and gloom...we have the potential for greatness....I just see us going in a different direction at the moment. So my practice is to try to remember a prayer each evening for our culture...i dont always remember, but I do often. I am often pleasantly surprised at how much in common my old hippie roots and Christianity share. That is my initial rant for the evening. Carry on.:)
