"[T]he House Ways and Means Committee has unearthed emails from 2011 in which notorious Tax Exempt Organizations official Lois Lerner describes the Tea Party matter as "very dangerous" and specifically states that those fabled low-level employees in Cincinnati "should probably NOT have this case." This is, to put it mildly, a strong contradiction to every molecule of spin the Administration has emitted thus far. We were originally told the whole ugly affair was the work of low-level drones who took matters into their own hands. When that was clearly exposed as a lie, the story shifted to portray an over-zealous but non-partisan IRS cracking down hard on tax-exempt organizations across the political spectrum. That’s also patently absurd, as the lack of comparably persecuted liberal organizations proved. Now, at long last, we’re seeing email correspondence from Lois Lerner that would have detonated like nuclear bombs if they had been exposed in the early days of the scandal. Democrats calculate that the story has been dragged out beyond the short attention spans of American voters, giving them the political cover they need to obstruct investigations and protect scandal figures from punishment. Lois Lerner is still drawing a fat paycheck out of your wallet, even though she’s been relieved of official duties for months. To this day, absolutely no one has been punished for the IRS outrage, although there have been a few feeble efforts to portray quiet retirements, scheduled departures, and the odd case of paid administrative leave as consequential. The resolution of the IRS scandal will tell us just how low Americans have set the standards for their immense federal government."
