T-minus 28 days until A Healthy Mound 5k! As Vini Vegas stated in previous posts, the registration fee is $10. Weve been asked where the money is going, and as stated, wed like to make the race bigger and better than it will be this year. But I wanted to be a little more specific. First, wed love to have the race timed, like the races that you see in other cities. The chip system costs money. Wed like to have food at the finish lines to replenish the race participants. Wed like to have mile markers at historical landmarks on the race route that provides history of the various landmarks for those who may not know of our towns rich history. Wed like NEW race bibs. Wed like to have fun activities for the children of the town. Wed also like to be able to provide medals and t-shirts for the participants. But all of these things cost money. Ideally, if we can start a race ahead of the game, we can do what we ultimately want to do - give the money to our schools or organizations in Mound Bayou to help fund some of the activities for the citys youth. They dont have the breadth of activities that we did when we were growing up there. Many of us owe a great deal to Mound Bayou. I know I do. And our town is in need of a great many things. We have to figure out a way to give to the town that gave so much to us. Please help us start. Happy Saturday, FB Fam!
