T-storms that were in Tennessee this morning broke up as they - TopicsExpress

T-storms that were in Tennessee this morning broke up as they reached the mountains...so shortly after noon were just seeing scattered showers stretching from the NC mountains into north-central Georgia. The main cold front is still some distance away to our west, and daytime heating may bring about some redevelopment of showers/thunder. But the best energy for maintaining storms is lifting to our north through the day. This means the best chance for rain/storms looks to be north and west of the I-85 corridor. As the front loses its punch, rain chances will get lower the farther south and east one goes...only a slim chance for rain closer to the Midlands. Winds in the atmosphere are set up to where some gusty storm winds remain a possibility IF storms redevelop. Right now any such activity looks to be isolated, at best. As a result, the Storm Prediction Center (theyre the ones that issue watches for severe weather) has removed us from their slight risk area for today. Keep an eye to the sky and head indoors if you hear any thunder this afternoon/evening, but this is not look like something that everyones going to be dealing with.
