TA DAH! Lettersong Studio/Gallery is proud to present: Byzantine Sewing with Leather Covered Boards by Bonnie Stahlecker. DATES: September 7-8, 2013 (2 days) Saturday 9-5 Sunday 9-4 FEE: $145.00 DESCRIPTION: This historical book structure features a handsome sewing pattern, which forms a thick chain across the spine of the book. The book is sewn in two parts: one half of the sections are sewn to the front cover using two needles while the remaining sections are sewn to the back cover. Then the two parts are joined together in the middle. The covers will exhibit an artistic design with decoration techniques freely borrowed from the Late Coptic period. These techniques include vellum lacing, inlays and blind tooling, all of which are done prior to adhering the leather to wooden boards. Participants will first sample the techniques before using them on their own designs. To finish the book, a slit braid leather strap with fore-edge peg will be attached. Level:Some experience with these materials and sewing. Material Fee: $35.00 BIO – BONNIE STAHLECKER bonnie-stahlecker [email protected] Bonnie Stahlecker received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of South Dakota in 1981 and her Master of Fine Arts from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1984.
