TAFSIRAL QURAAN; SUURAH AL-HUJUURAT (THE DWELLING). THE BENEFITS OF THE SUURAH..... I seek refuge In Allaah from shaytaan the acursed, I start in the name of Allaah the Beneficient, the Merciful. Introduction; Al-Hujuurah: Literarily, the word Hujuurah is d plural form 4the word hujrah which means Room (Private apartment, quaters, chanmber etc). There are 18verses in the suurah n was revealed to d prophet (salallaahu alayhi wasallam) in Medina in d 19th year of Hijrah [Al-Baihaqee]. It focuses on Akhlaaq (Good manners) of the muslims. This is why some scholars refer 2it as surah Al-Akhlaaq. This verse was revealed to caution d pple around the prophet especially when dealing with d privacy of the prophets wives.....May Allaah be pleased with them. It teaches a lot of morals. VERSE ONE: O ye who believe! Make not (a decision) in advance before Allaah and His messanger, and fear Allaah. Verily, Allaah is All-hearing, All-knowing. Moral: The presence of Allaah n His Messanger is the Quraan and the Sunnah of the prophet [Ibn Katheer]. Making decisions in advance of Allaah n His Messanger means giving ones opinion precedence/priority over the words of Allaah n d sunnah of His Prophet. This verse teaches Muslims to; 1. All verdicts passed by a muslim on any matter should be as commanded in d quraan and hadeeth. A true believer doesnt give opinions out of his own thinking. Do not give opinions dat contradicts d Quraan and Hadeeth. 2. A believer in Allaah n His Messanger should be submissive to all d injunctions of Allaah n His prophet as given in d quraan n hadeeth. The attitude of a true muslim is described; samihnaa wa atohnaa we hear and we obey 3. Keep quiet when d quraan is recited. It is a sign of respect to Allaah. VERSE TWO: O you who believe! Raise not your voices above the voice of the prophet, nor speak aloud to him in talk as you speak aloud to one another, lest ur deeds should be rendered fruitless while you perceive not. Moral: This verse was revealed to caution two of d sahaabahs (Abu Bakr and Umar-May Allaah b pleased with them). They argued to an extent dat their voices were raised aloud till d prophets voice was drawn in theirs [Al-Bukhaari]......and thus d revelation of d aayah. It teaches dat; 1. Muslims should lower their voices in the presense of their leaders as a sign of respect. 2. Anger should be controlled as much as possible and arguments shld be avoided among muslims. 3. If there arise any argument, let it be refered to Allaah n His prophet as Allaah (subhaanahu wa taala) said; O you who believe! Obey Allaah n Obey his Messanger and those of you in authority. And if you differ in anything against urself, refer it to Allaah and His Messanger, if you believe in Allaah and in d last day. That is better and more suitable for final determination {Q4:59....Suurah An-Nisaa}. 4. The good deeds of one who raises his voice above d prophets is useless n yet he knows not. VERSE THREE: Verily, those who lower their voices in the presence of Allaahs Messanger, they are the ones whose hearts Allaah has tested for piety. For them is 4giveness and a great reward. Moral: Those who are submissive to the words of Allaah n d sunnah of his prophet are honourable in d sight of Allaah. Allaah promises dem a great reward. For Instance, one who abandons all dat Allaah n his prophet has forbidden and do with all dat are commanded in d quraan and hadeeth, these pple are d pious b4 Allaah and shall be rewarded for their piety. VERSE FOUR-FIVE: Verily, those who call you from behind the dwelings, most of dem have no sense And if they had patience it you could come out of them, it would have been better for them. And Allaah is opt forgiving, most Merciful Moral: 1. A proper Isaamic etiquette of entering someone elses room should be observed always. A muslim doesnt just intrude other peoples privacy, especially a leaders. 2. It is rewarding for a muslim to be cautious of this. 3. For those who do otherwise unknowingly, Allaah will 4give their ignorance n accept dia repentance. VERSE SIX: O you who believe, if a Faasiq (liar, evil person) comes to you with any news, verify it, lest you shld harm people with igorance and afterwards, you become regretful for wat yu have done. Moral: Always verify information before taking actions, so as to avoid injustice. Taking actions on unverified news may cause regret to us, if such news turns out to be false. VERSE SEVEN-EIGHT: And know that among you there is the Messanger of Allaah. If he were to obey you in much of d matter, u would surely be in trouble. But Allaah has endeared d faith in you n has beatified it in ur hearts and has made disbelieve, wickedness n disobedience hateful 2you. Such are they who are the rightly guided (This is) Grace from Allaah n His favour. And Allaah is All-knowing, All-wise. Moral: 1. The quraan and sunnah instills faith in d hearts of true muslims. 2. Any one who loves n obeys d words of Allaah n d sunnah of His prophet has been rightly guided. VERSE NINE-TEN: And if two parties among d believers fall to fighting, then make peace between them both. But if one of them outrages against d other, then fight you (all) against d one who outrages till it complies with d command of Allaah. Then if it complies, den make reconciliation btwn them justly and be equitable. Verily, Allaah lives those who are d equitable The believers are nothing else than brothers, and fear Allaah that you may receive mercy Moral: 1. Muslims should always make peace among themselves. 2. We jointly forbid evil among ourselves. If any group refuses to accept what Allaah has commanded, lets put hands 2geda against it till it sees d truth. 3. Reconciliation is commanded among muslims. If any matter arises, let it be resolved within us. 4. A muslim is a brother to other muslims. Brotherhood/Sisterhood in Islaam is greated enjoined by Allaah. 5. Fear Allaah when dealing with ur brothers/Sisters in Islaam, for Allaah is merciful to those who fear Him. VERSE ELEVEN: O you who believe! Let not a group scoff at another group, it may be dat the later are better dan d former. Nor let some women scoff at oda women, it may b dat the later are beta than d former. Nor defame one another, nor insult one another by nicknames. How bad is it to insult ones brother after having faith. And whosoever does not repent, den such are indeed Zaalimuun (wrong doers). Moral: 1. Making jest of people is frowned at by Allaah (exalted). 2. Nobody knows who is better in d sight of Allaah...and so, laugh at nobody for their mistakes. 3. It is wrong for a muslim to insult a fellow muslim. 4. Muslims are enjoined to refrain from such acts n repent sincerely so as to attain piety b4 Allaah. VERSE TWELVE: O you who believe! Avoid much suspicion, indeed some suspicions are sins. And spy not, neither backbite one another. Would one of you like 2eat d flesh of his dead brother? You would hate it (so hate backbiting) And fear Allaah. Verily, Allaah is d one who forgives and accepts repentance, most merciful Lesson: 1. Muslims shld not suspect fellow muslims, as d prophet of Allaah said in d narration of Abu Huraira; Beware of suspicion, for suspicion is d worse of false tales and do not look for others fault, and do not spy on oneanother.......... [Sahih Al-Bukhaari]. .....to be continued Inshaa Allaah...
