TAJIK The Tajiks of Afghanistan are the indigenous people. They did not come from Tajikistan or any other region. Their ancestors are Indo-Iranian Bactrians, Soghdians, Sakas, Persians, Parthians, Medians who resided in Khorasan (Modern Afghanistan, Tajikistan Turkmenistan Uzbekistan and eastern Iran). All other ethni groups in Afghanistan migrated in what is known as Afghanistan today after the 16th century and Tajiks from the southern and eastern parts migrated northwards when Pashtuns invaded their lands.
