TALE OF TWO SNOW STORIES, ONE CLEAR THE OTHER BLURRY While up this morning feeding Jacob, I was taken back looking at the latest information from last night. All of a sudden, some models are exploding the clipper to a beast of a Noreaster! If we lived in New England (Boston, Hartford) I would sound the alarm today for up to a foot of snow and Blizzard Conditions, but I am hesitant and at this point unsure how fast it deepens to give us a large amount of snow. This has a *HIGH BUST POTENTIAL*. Yes, there will be a massive storm over the Atlantic Ocean as a blocking high pressure develops in the North Atlantic Ocean. Typically in the atmosphere, these highs will hold a storm back like a shield. Allowing them to develop quickly and move slowly. The tough part of this forecast is the timing of when and where this storm deepens. Typically our major Noreasters develop and come from the south (Carolinas). This is because they have time to grow in size, and we are in the direct path as they head north. This storm is developing off the coast of Atlantic City and heading to Boston, so more times than not, this position robs us from seeing a large amount of snow. BUT depending on the high in the North Atlantic Ocean and how quickly it grows, this storm COULD send snow bands in from the ocean Monday evening locally IF it allows the storm to move extremely slow. It is something we will monitor each time new model information arrives. We get two rounds of models a day late moring/early afternoon and again around midnight. So we can update you again early this afternoon. Here is what we know: Late Tonight and Monday morning- everyone gets a general 1-3 with the clipper passing through Monday Evening-Tuesday Afternoon-DO we get additional snow from the Noreaster? Best chance will be Philly and all areas north and east, but again NOT a set deal yet...just BE AWARE and stay tuned.
