TAQWA (GOD-CONSCIOUSNESS, FEARING ALLAH) "O you who believe! Fear Allâh (by doing all that He has ordered and by abstaining from all that He has forbidden) as He should be feared. [Obey Him, be thankful to Him, and remember Him always], and die not except in a state of Islâm (as Muslims) with complete submission to Allâh. (Surah Aali-Imran 3:102) A man once asked Abu Hurayrah (ra), ‘What is al-taqwa?” He replied, “Have you ever taken a path filled with thorns?” The man replied, “I have.” Abu Hurayrah asked him, “What did you do?” He replied, “When I saw a thorn I would dodge it or pass over it or behind it.” Abu Hurayrah said, “That is al-taqwa.” (Al-Baihaqi, Al-Zuhd Al-Kabir p351) Darimi – Hadith Maoquf of Imaam Ali (ra) said ‘Taqwa is to fear from Allah & to follow the revelation and satisfy with a little and to be ready for the day of departure.’
