TARABA ASSEMBLY: Speaker Wants Sacked officials to Stop Complaining; A call has gone to the recently sacked top government functionaries over their alleged involvement in the N400 Million flood victims fund to desist from complaining as they were all given fair hearing by the members of the Taraba state House of Assembly. It would be recall that some government personalities which includethe Secretary to the State Government, Ambassador Emmanuel Q. Njiwah and five commissioners were recently thrown into the unemployed market by the Taraba state government following their indictment by the Ad-hoc committee of the House of Assembly. In their quest to fight back, the sacked persons have dragged to court the state Acting Governor Alhaji Garba Umar and the entire members of the House of Assembly demanding for public apology. Answering questions from media practitioners yesterday at the assembly complex located few meters from the High court complex where the case is presently being entertain, the speaker, Mr. Haruna Tsokwa could not fathomed why the sacked officials are busy making noise when according to him they were all “given fair hearings. ”He said “the position ofthe House is very clear. We have made our recommendation to the best of our knowledge. We invited them and they came, and based on that invitation we were able to come up with our report. ”Based on the report that was made available to the acting governor by the members of the House of Assembly “the executive arm of the government” according to Tsokwa “took the decisions” which led to their sacked. Contrary to the statements of the sack persons that they were not invited by the committee, the speaker went ahead to made known that the “committee was inaugurated since 2012 and all of them appeared before the committee. ”He observed that “they are just try to tell us that when there were changes in the leadership of the committee, they expected the House to re-invite them again” which Tsokwa believed is not necessary. As the “committee had all the facts needed from them from the beginning. ”In spite of the ongoing court proceeding on the matter, the House, he said cannot be intimidated by their action stressing that “we stand on our recommendations, we have done our best and we have exposed those that are concerned. ”He beckoned on them to “stop threatening us with the name of court, they should bear in mind that governance is a continuous process. ------------------------------------------ Follow Us On Twitter @Taraba_In_Focus
